June 23 & 24, 2026 Noon - 3pm EST - Live/Virtual
For heads with 2 years exp and beyond
Many heads experience some or all of the following:
Board relations taking up a huge amount of time yet it’s hard to make progress
You have a great connection with the board chair - but other trustees aren’t very engaged - or the chair is disengaged and you’re trying to read her mind
That the board means well but they don’t really understand the pressures and complication of the HOS role today
This workshop is designed to help you move from reactive to empowered in the tricky head/board relationship. As a head, you know it’s impossible to keep every constituent happy but the board is your most important constituency.
Despite the undeniable power dynamics at play, heads have agency in creating a partnership that is more productive, truthful and supportive.
This two part June workshop will also provide an outlet for heads to share honestly about their successes and frustrations with governance. Every head loves their schools and every head has highs and lows in board relations. No one understands this better than other heads.
Participants will leave the workshop with a plan to shift into a more collaborative board/head relationship for the 26-27 academic year.
The program consists of:
Previous to the workshop - a guide to reflect on the current dynamic between you and the board and a 30 minute meeting with Julie to discuss your emerging goals
Two 3-hour sessions with time allotted for group discussion, breakout room conversations and individual reflection
Two 45 minute 1-1 follow up sessions with Julie Faulstich
Early bird price: $1150 - Price after April 30th: $1350
Enrollment capped at 10
